IEEE International Conference on Multimedia and Expo (ICME) 2014 Conference theme: Embracing Social Multimedia July 14-18, 2014 CHENGDU, China – Home of Panda


With around 1000 submissions and 500 participants each year, the IEEE International Conference on Multimedia & Expo (ICME) has been the flagship multimedia conference sponsored by four IEEE societies since 2000. It serves as a forum to promote the exchange of the latest advances in multimedia technologies, systems, and applications from both the research and development perspectives of the circuits and systems, communications, computer, and signal processing communities. Multimedia data generally refer to audio, image, video, 3D, newer sensor data (e.g. depth) and related multi-modality data. In 2014, an Exposition of multimedia products, prototypes and animations will be held in conjunction with the conference.

Authors are invited to submit a full paper (two-column format, 6 pages maximum) according to the guidelines available on the conference website at http://www.icme2014.org<http://www.icme2014.org/> . Only electronic submissions will be accepted. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

o Multimedia content analysis
o Multimedia activity and event understanding
o Multimedia search and retrieval
o Mobile, location-based and other context-based multimedia
o Social, user-generated, and cloud-based multimedia
o 3D immersion and virtual reality
o Multimedia security and forensics
o Human computer interaction based on multimedia
o Multimedia networking and communication
o Multimedia coding and compression
o Multimedia signal processing and enhancement
o Multimedia systems, applications, services and implementations

ICME 2014 aims to have high quality oral and poster presentations. Several awards sponsored by industry and institutions will be given out. The conference will provide student author travel grants. Accepted papers should be presented, or else they will not be included in the IEEE Xplore Library.

A number of workshops will be organized by the sponsoring societies. To further foster new emerging topics, ICME 2014 also welcomes researchers, developers and practitioners to organize regular workshops. Industrial exhibitions are held in parallel with the main conference. Proposals for special sessions, tutorials, panels, and demos are also invited. CALL FOR WORKSHOP PROPOSALS


IEEE International Conference on Multimedia & Expo
Call for Workshop Proposals

July 14-18, 2014, Chengdu, China

Workshop proposals are solicited for ICME 2014. The workshops should be
clearly focused and facilitating active discussions and constructive
interactions on current or emerging topics of interest. They should
allow members of the community to compare and discuss approaches,
methods, and new concepts on research topics pertinent to the main
conference. These topics often offer emerging interests to the
multimedia research community or bridge the community with other areas.

Workshop proposals for ICME 2014 should include:
o The title, goals, and duration of the workshop (half-day or full-day,
which will be held on July 14 or 18);
o The specific topics that will be addressed by the workshop;
o The relevance and significance of this workshop to the main conference;
o The history of the workshop if it is not the first version;
o A draft workshop call for papers with:
- the names, affiliations, email addresses, and short bios of the
  workshop organizers, who should be experts in the related topics and
  preferably from multiple institutions;
- the paper selection process;
- a list of potential Program Committee members and their affiliations.

Workshop proposals should not exceed four pages and should be submitted
to the Workshop Co-Chairs, Tao Mei (tmei [AT] microsoft.com<http://microsoft.com/>), Rainer
Stiefelhagen (rainer.stiefelhagen [AT] kit.edu<http://kit.edu/>), and Qi Tian (qitian [AT]
cs.utsa.edu<http://cs.utsa.edu/>). Workshop proposals will be evaluated based on various
criteria including the quality and level of details of the proposal, the
theme of the workshop, its relevance to the main conference, and the
overall balance of the conference workshop program.

CALL FOR TUTORIAL PROPOSALS


IEEE International Conference on Multimedia & Expo
Call for Tutorial Proposals

The IEEE International Conference on Multimedia & Expo (ICME) has been the flagship multimedia conference sponsored by four IEEE societies since 2000. It serves as a forum to promote the exchange of the latest advances in multimedia technologies, systems, and applications from both the research and development perspectives of the circuits and systems, communications, computer, and signal processing communities. ICME 2014 will be held in Chengdu, China, from July 14-18, 2014.

The ICME 2014 Organizing Committee invites proposals for tutorials to be held on the first day of the conference Monday July 14, 2014. We seek half-day tutorials on established or emerging research topics within the field of multimedia and related topics, such as:

o Multimedia computing systems and human-machine interaction
o Cross-media analysis and mining
o Big data architectures for multimedia systems
o Interactive media and immersive environments
o 3D visualization, animation, gaming, and virtual reality
o 3D imaging and 3DTV
o Speech, audio, image, video, and text processing
o Signal processing for media integration
o Multimedia content analysis and search
o Multimedia databases and digital libraries
o Multimedia signal processing
o Multimedia security and privacy
o Multimedia analysis and social media
o Multimedia communications and networking
o Multimedia compression and standards
o Multimedia applications and technologies
o Hardware and software for multimedia systems
o Multimedia quality assessment

Proposals prepared in a single-column PDF file, should include the following information:

1.- Title of the tutorial
2.- Area of the tutorial (refer to the above list of topics)
3.- 300 word abstract (for inclusion in registration materials)
4.- Keywords
5.- Target audience and prerequisite knowledge of audience
6.- Up to 4 pages full description of the tutorial, including learning objectives, table of contents, and teaching modules in details (review, in-depth content, etc…)
7.- Instructor(s) and their credentials (4-page CV for each instructor, including selected relevant publications in the proposed area of the tutorial)

o Notification of Tutorial Proposal Acceptance: February 28, 2014
o Tutorial Outline/Slides Due: April 30, 2014
