Reshaped definition of mutual modeling

After reading Sperber and Wilson, 1986, I came up with a new definition of mutual modeling: process by which an individual (i) picks up facts he/she estimates to be MANIFEST and RELEVANT in his/her cognitive environment (with regard to the partners? intents), (ii) builds a representation (more or less formal) about the partners? intents.

Modelling of mutual knowledge has been one of the topics of my Ph.D. thesis on "Cognitive Language Engineering": http://ic2.epfl.ch/~pallotta/thesis.html

I elaborated the work on ViewFinder stated by Afzal Ballim and Yorik Wilks with the book Artificial Believers in 1991.
Some information on ViewFinder are available here:

I will be back at EPFL from April 3rd at the Global Computing Center and be very glad to discuss with you about possible collaborations.
