DynOR is the first microprocessor that supports dynamic adjustment of the clock period in each cycle based on the instructions that are currently in flight in his pipeline. The idea enables performance improvements that can also translate into power savings by using supply voltage scaling while maintaining a given average performance.
The details of the design and the achievable performance and energy-efficiency improvements are reported in a paper to be presented at ESSCIRC 2016 at EPFL in Lausanne, Switzerland.
